extraordinary show!
The show started promptly at 6pm and ended at the 11pm curfew cut-off. The music squeezed into those 5 hours, well, there just wasn't enough time. Jason Bonham and Kenny Wayne Shepherd Bands set a very high bar for Joe (we weren't sure it was possible, especially after Kenny Wayne's searing performance) but follow he did with a brilliant set of his own. Jason Bonham's tribute to his dad and Zeppelin's enduring legacy was possible with a cast of talented musicians including lead vocalist Chas West. We've followed Kenny Wayne Shepherd since he was a kid and playing with the likes of Buddy Guy recently and Joe Bonamassa has just upped his game. He and his band delivered the blues with a vengeance! Joe had to be his best and he presented his brand of electrifying funky blues-rock n roll that showcased his legendary skills. It was the kind of evening where the weather was as perfect in this beautiful theatre as were the artists. We all left smiling just shaking our heads and happy to have witnessed a truly memorable show. Finally, in these days of soaring prices everywhere you turn, this show was quite reasonably priced and we were surprised there wasn't a larger crowd for this show especially on a warm and dry Friday evening.
